I have always liked the mood and expression that black and white photography brings, whether it’s landscape, architectural or street photography. Often it is minimal, strong compositions with high contrast areas, or images which include manmade objects like jetty posts, piers or buildings that I enjoy capturing the most.
The visual contrast that these elements bring are used to lead the eye into the frame to create extra drama, atmosphere and sometimes tension.
Like many other art forms the most important thing is the emotional response that these images draw from the viewer.
The following galleries are samples of recent work in three main areas of Black and White photography - Archtiectural, fine art landscape and seacape and street photography.
